Is the Fred Bay Observatory grounds a good place locally to observe the Perseid meteor shower? Looking for a good local area place to watch the 2025 shower.
If so, could I have post midnight access?

Gerry, the Fred Bay Observatory is located in Hisey Park, a fairly dark site near Waynesville. The park is closed to the public after hours; however, WCAS members do have access so I encourage you to join us if you’re interested in using the park for astronomical purposes after its normal closing time. The optimum time to observe the Perseids is after midnight and typically later. You might also consider camping at nearby Caesar Creek State Park, which has an annual event on the weekend of peak Perseid Meteor activity in August every summer.
